Schwinn Free Wheeler 2 Double Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller (Green/Blue) Reviews

Review by R. Haney:

We were looking for a double stroller that was 1) under 0, 2) was side-by-side, 3) had individual, adjustable seats, 4) a swivel front wheel 5) good shock system, 6) a sun canopy, 7) a storage area under the stroller, 8) easy fold-up ability, 9) durable material (in decent colors) and easy one-handed maneuverability (jogging with dog and children in tow).

We got everything we asked for with the Schwinn Free Wheeler 2 Double Jogger. Some added bonuses include 1) side-by-side double joggers are bulky and usually very heavy for one person to collapse and throw in a car, or store in the garage, but this one is a one handed collapse and collapses to about a one foot width. It is light and easy to pick-up (even for a 140 lb pregnant woman) 2) there is a small storage sack and wrist band that comes with the stroller. The storage sack goes in the handle bar area and the wristband is included as a safety precaution if the stroller gets away from you, it is still attached to your wrist. 3) the brake is fantastic! We have a very steep driveway and locking it to close the garage is of no concern. It has a sturdier locking mechanism than our Maclaren single stroller.

I am not an easily persuaded buyer and if you check my history, I don’t take the time to review often. This stroller deserved the time and energy to tell others about it’s A+ness!

Added side note: Please always have your children wear helmets while you jog! If they don’t make a helmet small enough for your child, they are too small for a jogger.

Review by Momof2:

OK, so after researching double stroller, I decided on this one. The only thing I kept on running into was the issue regarding the angle of the seat.

Got the stroller and although I must say it is very light and handles wonderfully, I HATE the seats.

I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 9 month old. The 9 month old is just at that age when she wants to see everything around her and the angle of these seats prevent her from doing that.

Now, my hubby LOVES the darned thing as he sees it as more comfortable. Yes, I agree, but only if your goal is for the kiddos to take a nap.

Before you buy one, go look at it somewhere (store, friend, etc). If I had to do it all over again, I would go with another brand.

What I like:

- The stroller basket is bigger than most double joggers, but pretty flimsy. It does fit my diaper bag, which is not a small one, but after that there is no room for anything else.

- The canopy is nice. It covers them from the sun very well and if needed you can tilt it to cover them from the front (if you are walking against the sun). So this I like about the stroller.

- It does come with a little parent tray, which is just the right size for us. Fits a water bottle (or 2) and a small wallet.

- The handle is adjustable.

- It handles very well and very smooth.

What I don’t like:

- The angle of the seats

- The break bar will NOT stay up. You can catch it going down and bring it back up, but not what I want to worry about while out on a stroll.

Good luck!

BOB Revolution Duallie Stroller in Navy Reviews

Review by Allison Lebaron:

UPDATE: Now owned my BOB for one year and I STILL LOVE IT!!! It’s holding up fantastic, still turns on a dime, nothing broken, creaking, squeaking, ripped or faded. My kids totally beat it up (food, mud, markers) and it still looks almost brand new. I hose it off every once in a while and that does the trick.

First I want you to know that I have purchased or borrowed them all!!! I am my own mini consumer reports! LOL I have spent over 00 on bad strollers.

You name it, I’ve bought it or tried it. I have compared:

1) Graco Duo Rider tandem

2) The Peg Perego Duette (super expensive 0 and worst stroller ever made)

3) Peg Perego Aria Twin

4)Zooper twin side by side (not sure of the name)

5) Maclaren side by side

6) Phil&Ted double jogger that has the rear kid almost touching the ground (my kids HATED that) and after kid #2 is in back there is no basket room – are we joking?

7) Graco Duo Rider side by side

The BOB Revolution Duallie ROCKED THE HOUSE compared to all the above and here’s why….

First of all I have a HUGE 4 year old (46 lbs and 45 inches) and a medium sized but hefty 3 year old (26 lbs and 37 inches). I can NOT feel the weight of my children when I push them in the BOB!!!!! Parents, you realize how incredible this is. The stroller is easier to push than my single stroller! And I am not exaggerating. That was the first thing that got me because frankly I was not interested in a jogger. AND….get this… my 3 year old does not make the stroller pull to one side, even when he rides solo!!! I had such a problem with this in all the other strollers it was such a chore to push the kids that i didn’t take them anywhere. This was the case with each of the other strollers, but especially the case with the Graco Duo rider tandem and the Peg Perego Duette (both took an act of God to turn).

The other thing I love are the HUUUGE sun canopies, they are independent of each other and practially cover my children completely and since my kids hate direct sunlight this was a must, must, must.

Next I am sure you want to know how it turns….FANTASTIC! I strolled it all around the store when buying it and it could totally get in and out of isles without bumping everything off the shelves. This shocked me. And it does absolutely make it through doorways, a little tricky but it does. The only way to describe the way it turns is to quote my husband “it’s like butter” :) It is seriously the smoothest ride ever!! I am so excited about it after going through so many strollers that were such a pain.

Also each seat gives my hefty children plenty of room width-wise which doesn’t make sense because they are almost the same dimensions as the others, magic I tell you. They don’t look scrunched at all. They HATED the McClaren side by side whatever-its-called, and I hated it too frankly. I was stuggling even in the store and my kids were begging to get out, so cramped very hard to push. I felt this way with the Peg Perego Twin Aria too and was shocked because I LOVE my Peg Pergo Pilko P3. First I could have sworn the Twin Aria was going to snap when I turned, extremely flimsy, and my then two year old was cramped and complaining.

That’s another thing about the Bob, that sucker is really solid. It is very well made and has stood the test of time. There is very little (if any) plastic used. EVERY other stroller mentioned above is made of a lot of plastic that was showing wear after a short period of time.

The shocks on the BOB are better than my car, I swear. It glides along and ever so slightly bounces up and down while you push as the movement of pushing is enough to send the shocks absorbing it. It’s not a nusance at all if that’s what your thinking, it actually makes pushing easier.

The under basket is not the best, but considering everything, they have made the most of it. Also there are two decent sized baskets on the back of each seat. I have not had any problems like I thought I would and I pack a change of clothes for each, lunch for three of us, dolls, power rangers, etc and I have always been good. I do HIGHLY recommend the handle bar console/cup holder. Without it I was lost. It stores my keys, phone, wallet and two water bottles.

As for the height of the seat area itself, my son only keeps growing taller (now 46 inches and counting) and he still fits with no complaints and believe me he would say something :)

Anyway, I hope this helps all your parents who are making the very stressful “perfect stroller” choice. Learn from my mistakes! :) Also, I do wish I had initially purchased the fuzzy seat covers – mostly to protect the seats from the inevitable spills, squished PB&J sandwiches, etc. :)

If I had purchased this stroller two years ago, things would have been a lot different. I know this stroller will last me a looong time. I will never buy a small compact stroller again after this.

Review by J. Hallmartel:

Strengths:

- Turns on a dime

- Sturdy construction

- Gives each child his/her own space

- Easy to fold – Large sun canopies

- Improved seat recline with 2007 model

Weaknesses:

- Hard to get things in the under-the-seat basket

- Could use more seat height

- Must manually reset shock setting for higher weights after folding

Summary:

Overall I am very pleased with the BOB Revolution Duallie Navy Stroller (2007 model).

Before making the purchase, I spent much time deciding between BOB and the less expensive Dreamer Design Ditto Manhattan Deluxe. Though I wanted to save money, I decided to go with BOB since I know and trust the brand. (We had a good experience with our first jogging stroller: a single BOB Sport Utility Stroller (SUS).)

My first impression of the Revolution Duallie was favorable. It is of the same high quality as my first stroller. However, I like the features on this stroller better than my original. The swivel wheels turn on a dime; whereas I found the fixed wheels on the SUS made it hard to turn. I also appreciate the improved level of seat recline with the 2007 model.

Though the Revolution Duallie does not have a hand brake – I read somewhere that hand brakes aren’t compatible with swivel wheels – I like the rear parking brake. It is very easy to engage and disengage. What’s more, I can engage the brake by pulling on the wrist safety strap. I expect that this will stop the stroller if I happen to slip while heading downhill. I do wish, however, that they’d find a way to put on a hand brake. It is rather difficult to manage the steep hills of Vermont with the weight of two children.

BOB does a great job of providing each child with his/her own space. I test “pushed” a few other double strollers and found that the kids were practically leaning on each other. In the Revolution Duallie, my son pretends he’s in his own little cave when the sun canopy is all the way down.

The stroller is very easy to fold, and the wheels are easy to take off and put on. I haven’t tried to put it in my trunk, but I did get it in our mudroom closet without problem. It has approximately the same folded dimensions as our single SUS, only it is wider. On that note, I was pleased to discover that it managed to fit through the door of my local post office (albeit, just barely).

The things I don’t like are relatively minor, but here goes. If your children collectively weigh more than 50 pounds, you have to manually move the shock setting. If you never have to fold the stroller this is not a problem. However, if you do fold the stroller, it automatically reverts back to the lower setting, meaning you must remember to reset it each time.

I have a very hard time getting anything thicker than a few books into the under-the-seat basket. The basket itself is big enough; the difficulty lies in getting items in there.

Finally, I wish the seat back were higher. My three-year-old son’s head almost touches the canopy, especially when it is upright. I do appreciate, however, that BOB provides a drawstring to pull up excess canopy fabric. This makes the most of the available headroom.

As for price, I found a very good deal online through a bicycle shop in Virginia. I paid 2.99 and received free shipping.

BOB Ironman Sport Utility Stroller Duallie in Yellow Reviews

Review by J. Futoran:

Background info:

-I bought this to use with my twin boys who were 8 months old and weighed 16 pounds at the time of purchase. My boys fit well in the Ironman Duallie.

-I’m 5′7 and run competitively from 5k to marathon distance – my normal pace for my typical 5-10 mile runs is in the 6:00’s (depending on the course).

Product info:

I was so exicited on my first run with the boys that I went out and did an 8 miler. My total time was only off by 6-8 minutes of what I normally run this course in without a stroller. Simple math would tell you that the BOB slows you down about a minute a mile – but that wasn’t necessarily the case for me. I was not able to run for the prior eight months, so my time was probably slowed more by my fitness level than the BOB Ironman Duallie.

This stroller has also taken over as the primary stroller for running errands around town.

Pros – the baby harnesses, the shade options, the parking brake, the running hand brake, the portability, the sturdy construction, the gear pockets (for you and the kids), and the height.

Cons – it took me several attempts to get the front wheel aligned so it went straight forward, and the push bar is a little low for some of my taller relatives (6′3″ and over).

Review by Suzi:

I have owned and tried so many double strollers, and this is currently the best side-by-side on market for off-roading. I have used this one since my youngest was about 3 months old, and my oldest was 22 months. It’s their favorite double stroller.

We also have a Twin Aria (lightest), but can’t push it around our neighborhood sidewalks, as a bump in the sidewalk will startle both babies and me pushing (great for glass smooth floored malls, though). Also, bought and returned, the Tike Tech Trax360, that was easy to push on flat ground with the swivel tires, but was 40 pounds, and impossible to go up hills and scary to go down hills with no hand brake (we live in San Francisco, so get to test out on hills quite a bit). Also, have the Phil & Teds, which is fantastic.

Pros:

* Great for running

* Faster running pace, easier to operate (not true for other strollers)

* Gets across bumpy terrain easily

* Kid’s favorite color

* Sunshades are huge and come almost all the way down (no need for a Rayshade)

* Pockets for kids to put their stuff on sides of seats.

* Pockets on back of seats for parents’ stuff.

* Center of gravity is perfectly balanced for tilting and turning.

* Quality buckles that are easy to operate.

* Great suspension (no startling bumps).

* Kids say seats are comfortable.

Cons:

* More difficult to turn on slow walks (I just drag the front wheel instead of doing the tilt back and turn).

* Not apparent on how to use parking brake.

Keep in mind that you can’t have it all. I wanted swivel wheels, but then you have added weight and no hand brake which can be agonizing when going down hills.

The Ironman Duallie is great for running. I walk up to the top of Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park here in San Francisco, and run down fast with this stroller using the handbrake to slow the pace some. I feel my kids are safe, and they absolutely love the ride. The Phil & Teds Buggy also does this feat too but I can’t run as fast with that one because can’t run behind it (have to run to the side). My kids beam with joy in the Ironman Duallie stroller. When I ask my oldest which stoller should we take today, his answer is always “the yellow double stroller.” I use the Phil & Teds more often now because it’s so light, though, and I have bad wrists. The Phil & Ted’s is easlier for me to throw into the car and take out. I take the Ironman Duallie for special outings with kids, and use the Phil & Teds now as our daily stroller.

I haven’t figured out if and how to work the “parking brake” which is important, but just e-mailed BOB strollers, and sure I will hear a response soon. They are known wonderful customer service. Of course, I misplaced the instruction manual. There are storage pockets all over this stroller, so probably I put the manual in one of those (and lost it when folding it up as it could have slipped out).

Improvement ideas: 1) zipper pockets on back of seats for instruction manual, etc. 2) a slot dedicated for a tire pump. 3) Instructions for folding and parking brake should be printed right on stroller fabric.

Also need to order the double water bottle holder for handle bar as an essential assessory. If walk in rain, they also offer a double rain cover which we bought too, but of course, don’t have to go out in rain with stroller,so haven’t used but once.
